Tamra Davis, a mom, film director, and blogger, shares her household tips on preparing a healthy school lunch for your children during the morning rush to get out of the house. She recommends parents share tasks: dad does lunch; mom makes breakfast. Check out her video for many meal ideas for both breakfast and lunch, such as fruit smoothies, French toast; egg salad and cheese sandwiches. Give your children good meals — a well-nourished kid performs better in school as many studies have shown!
1. Insulated lunch box
2. Night before prep the ice packs and reusable containers
3. Incorporate the following into your child’s lunch: main dish of protein and grain, dairy, fruit and vegetables, sweet and savory snack; drink
French Toast (For 1 adult or 2 kids)
2 pieces of bread
¼ teaspoon of vanilla
Pinch of sugar
Pinch of cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Butter and maple syrup
Mix the eggs in a shallow bowl add the vanilla, sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Cut the pieces of bread diagonally. Heat up a teaspoon of butter or oil in a large frying pan. Dip the bread one-half slice at a time in the egg mixture. Evenly coat both sides then put it in the pan. By the time you have dipped and put each piece in the pan, the first piece should be ready to flip over. Lightly brown on each side.
Serve with butter and maple syrup. You can also add some sliced banana or some other yummy fresh fruit like berries or mango.
